I took the GMAT for the first time today and I wasn't surprised with my score (480). I think I just wanted to go in there and try it to calm my nerves a bit. I've only been prepping for 3 weeks and even then it's been pretty inconsistent with the holidays and all. You really do get what you put into it!
My breakdown was 27 verbal and 29 quant. I was scoring around 34 on my verbal in practice so this was a big disappointment for me. The quant I knew I would struggle with since it's been almost ten years since I've taken a math course. The big surprise was how many DS questions I receieved. It felt like more than I saw during a typical practice test.
My quant really needs work if I'm going to get 600+ like I want to. Not to mention the fact that applying for an accounting program with a low Q score won't work in my favor. I've heard many people discuss the
Manhattan GMAT books and was considering buying them. Are there better options? I think my biggest issue is I've forgotten many of the basics and it's really causing me to struggle.
Thanks for any advice,
-Kevin
