Hi Paul/Accepted,
I need your advice. I have a gmat of 580, 9 yrs work ex in marketing, Indian. have good designation. I applied this year and have admission offer to Thunderbird-(can do in one year), cinncinatti, Hult, Case western..all one year. out of these options am keen on Tbird as that seems best fit. I am 32 and so was looking at one yr mba only. but now am thinking I should have gone for a better known 2 yr MBA if I could get In. or will i be too old for 2 yr?? or is tbird etc fine? I have slight diff work ex in the sense that I am not a IT/Finance guy but marketing. I also ahve decent extra curricular. My undergrad gpa etc are nothing special..infact ordinary. Should I join Tbird or drop the year and at my age and go for 2 yr mba..maybe better known..like US top 30..do i have a chance??? i know I have zero chance in top15.
I can spend the next 3-4 months doing voluntary work as I have left my job..that might help my apps..or no job is bad?? Do I have any chance in schools like Kelly Indiana, UNC kenan flager, Emory, USC, with my gmat 580...which are the schools I should target..especially keeping in mind I want to do marketing as international student....i feel i might get lucky with Kelly....or should I just take the one yr Thunderbird MBA and be happy??? or risk dropping the year and taking chance with a slightly bigger name? is it worth it? does it matter/??
otten2929,
I think you should go to T-bird since it's a good program and you seem to like it. Given your age, you GMAT (and even assuming you raise it a bit), and lack of employment Kelly, UNC, Emory, and USC are probably not feasible. Go with T-bird!
Good luck,
