Disappointing GMAT Test (Q44, V 33) [#permalink]
10 Oct 2009, 12:36
Will be short in describing what happened, and what I am going to do. I am already at MBA program, but need GMAT to get into PhD. I am shooting to get above 700 in order to be able to get into decent PhD program in the US. As today, I was going to Test Centre, I knew that I am not going to score more than 700. But I was expecting to get something between 650 and 700. My score 610, really disappointed me. But I am not giving up. I will study even harder, and I am sure that I can do much better, and even get the desired score. Quantitive. It was not hard, but I think, I was quite inexperienced in doing these problems. Be other situation, and no time limit, I would easily solve most of the problems with no effort. But under strict time managment, I think, I screwed up. Because, I was getting easy questions, I thought that I was doing bad, and had a bad feeling Verbal. Was harder for me, even the math. Although, English is my second lanuage, I thought and I expected that I will do much better in Verbal rather than Math. But, I again screwed up. I had three pretty hard and boring passaged, and very strangely formulated critical reasoning questions, which I barely understood. Grammar part was not that hard. AWA Was not that bad, and I think I managed to get something above 5.0, which is enough for me. I am thingking to take the test again in winter. But this time, I need to really study hard, and shoot for above 700. So far had access just for one GMATclub test, I think I need to do all the problems,,, Please, need, help and suggestions.

Thank you for encouragement. I just started reviewing the webpage you provided, and I am going to start reading books to increase my reading skills, the book list offered by bb. Thank u guys. And, most importantly, I hope I will get access to GMATclub tests, when I will have 200 posts,,,

Look, if you have +3 in both, you will maybe get a 680. You will jump from 71th percentile to 88th. Find out where are your specific weak points (such as idioms or number properties) and work out, man! Feel the burn

I think, My weak points were my unattentiveness to the RC questions. I have had overall 4 texts, 2 of them were very boring, and ONE very boring, plus very hard to understand. Although, I live in the US for more than 3 years, and I graduated from western university, I still found it hard to understand. I screwed up them I think. In Math it seems likely, I got wrong several questions at the beginning, even though they were not hard. Thus after that, many questions, I got were pretty basic. Because, I was not getting any 700+ hard problems, I was quite sure, that I am not doing good at Math section. But, I will retake it and hopefully, break that 700 barrier next time Thanks for support.
