Disappointing score in practice test (MGMAT) [#permalink] New post 22 Jan 2009, 10:50
HI All,

Took MGMAT-1 test over the weekend and scored a 610 (Q -45, V-30). I felt so down after seeing the score. Most of the Quant questions were really tough and long. I felt tired and thought bombed the quant section and kind of lost little focus on verbal as well because of the bad quant section feeling...

So I finished the OG Verbal review book this week and took the GMAT Challenges Verbal exam 1 and scored 20 out of 41 ... man this killed my confidence. I had a feeling that I was doing well while taking the test but the score surprised me...

Can you guys suggest me what to do to improve my verbal score? and also post some of your gmat club challenges verbal scores and real gmat verbal scores ...(if any one already took the real test) atleast I can relate where I stand...

(Please note that I am targetting 700+ that is why I called disppointing)

Appreciate all the help guys.

Thanks.

Hi ugimba,

I have yet to take the GMAT but my verbal scores have increased significantly during my prep thanks to my abilities in SC. I believe that for non-native English speakers, grasping the concepts of SWE (and SC) can really help in better understanding RC and CR passages. Practice, practice and practice some more. I'm positive it will eventually just "click".

Best of luck!

I am a fan of gmatclub but I would not recommend the verbal challenges to be reflective of the real exam.
Take them for practicing verbal and as a timing exercise.

Thanks triple5soul and ConkergMat for your encouraging words. I took mgmat cat 3 and 4 in past two weeks. but made same score in both exams.
cat 3- 650 (Q 47, V 32) and cat 4 - 650 (Q 46, V33). I will focus more on Verbal next couple weeks and write one more exam and see where I stand.

Thanks.
