Hi,

You can take that background and make it into a strong success story. It is all about how you tell your story. I helped a woman with a similar background get into Wharton with a scholarship offer! She got into Columbia also. And she did not have the benefit of a second degree, like you do. A man with a similar story got into all of the top schools he was considering, including Wharton and Columbia. He also had a great GMAT, but did not have a second degree. The fact that you have that second degree with a strong GPA will help a great deal in presenting your case to the committee. I think you should have a good shot at many top schools. Take good care to get guidance on your essays and your recommendations (have the recs reviewed if at all possible before they are submitted - they will be very important in your case)... If things don't turn out well this time around, I think it will be because you could have improved how you told this story to the committee...

I wish you the best in the admissions process! Feel free to be in touch if you want more info.

With my best wishes,
Dr. Shelly L. Watts

Hi deeptiprof,

With regards to your past and your disciplinary problem, there are ways to overcome this. We had a client who was suspended from his college for plagiarism. With our strategy, we realized that our client needed to approach the plagiarism issue head on, explain what happened, make no excuses and concretely demonstrate how he learned and grew from the experience.

He discussed the emotional impact of his suspension, which really humanized him – the adcomm could understand his remorse and embarrassment, the impact on his relationship with his family and his self image. He then discussed the actions he then took to ensure that what he experienced would not happen again. The result was that he was admitted to Wharton and Kellogg

For your application, face your disciplinary problem head on, and then show how you have grown from the experience. You can turn this experience into a positive.

I hope this was of help. Please let me know if I can answer any other questions.

Best,

Conrad and the Stacy Blackman Team

How you explain your probation is going to be the key. Almost, all B Schools ask the question if you have been subjected to disciplinary action before.
