Money that would otherwise be spent on classroom space, parking facilities, climate control, and other particulars associated with providing a location-specific service can be diverted to marketing and quality control two crucial factors that can drive new business.

A. The costs associated with offering distance learning are lower than those of other instruction methods.
B. Online classes are more convenient for both instructors and students than are classes held at specific geographic locations.

D. Most types of instruction can be effectively conducted in an online setting.

Distance learning offers a potentially lucrative option for learning institutions. Money that would otherwise be spent on classroom space, parking facilities, climate control, and other particulars associated with providing a location-specific service can be diverted to marketing and quality control two crucial factors that can drive new business.

Which of the following can be correctly inferred from the statements above?

A. The costs associated with offering distance learning are lower than those of other instruction methods.
it can be inferred from the argument that the reduction of multiple costs to two costs - marketing and quality control - will allow learning institutions to spend less on their overall operation.
B. Online classes are more convenient for both instructors and students than are classes held at specific geographic locations.
we cannot infer that it will be more convenient for the students or the teacher. The student might not have the luxury of a computer or the internet at home and therefore might need to exert extra effort to be able to attend the online class. As for the teacher, he/she will still need to prepare and teach that class with the same thoroughness and effort
C. Distance learning does not required climate control or parking facilities.
As mentioned in choice B., the student might need transportation to go attend his online course outside his home. Transportation fee and some kind of location/access fee might be needed.
D. Most types of instruction can be effectively conducted in an online setting.
This choice should stand out clearly as an incorrect answer since conducting instructions in a classroom or an online environment effectively is both possible.
E. Computers and internet access are uniformly available to people in the developed world.
same reasons as given in choice B. we cannot infer this

Hope this helps :)

Actually I am confused between a and c
C. Distance learning does not required climate control or parking facilities.
We can infer that DL does not require climate control or parking facilities and it is not directly stated in question. So why it cant be inference?

i chose (C) but realized that (B) could be a better option.IMO (A) is wrong because;

".......Money that would otherwise be spent on classroom space, parking facilities, climate control, and other particulars associated with providing a location-specific service can be diverted to marketing and quality control....."

means that the tuition fee is same because the marketing and quality is offsetting the cost saved.

I choose C , reasoning is , money is channelized to 2 factors , but if more factors are required business mite not be lucrative , DL is lucrative and hence nothing else other than these 2 is required.

I chose C:

A is related to "other instruction methods" and that is out of scope since "distance learning" is not compared as the best method, it is said that it is "a lucrative option" so we don´t mind if there is a better lucrative option.

IMO C is not correct reason being:-

The institute diverts the money spent on parking facilities to the course material. But that doesnt mean that they dont have a parking facility. May be teh parking facility does not has shade, boundary wall.....Connsider the staff working in the office, where will they park their vehicle.

The option states " Distance learning does not require parking facility" which is wrong.

I doubt on the source of this question.

However, Best answer here should be Option D "D. Most types of instruction can be effectively conducted in an online setting."

As the argument states " Money that would otherwise be spent on classroom space...." Hence there is no class room so it is concluded that instructors instruction are effectively conducted through online setting

But i am not at all convinced...Let experts take a dig..............

Ambiguous question. What's the source of this question??

Though all the answer choices seems incorrect. Out of the lot, C looks OK.

IMO C- Makes sense as it is provided in the argument that money allocated to parking or climate control is spent on marketing or quality control.
A is incorrect because it compares the cost with all instruction methods while in the argument only classroom method and online method is discussed. Generalizing the classroom method to all instruction method is not logical. Home tuition can be a good option as no parking or location is required.

D seems close but no information is provided about this in the argument except stating the quality control which is not described as to what it covers.

C seems to be the straight shot. If DL required climate control or parking facilities, then this question would not have come to existence.
