Do I have any hope of getting into Rice? [#permalink]
08 Feb 2007, 08:36
I just graduated from the University of Houston with an undergrad degree in Political Science with a 2.42 GPA. I have been working in a professional environment for 5 years. If I can score around 700 on the GMAT, do I have any hope of getting into Rice University MBA? Thanks!
I would say you do. However, you will have to score north of 670/680 to do so. Rice is an up and coming school in my opinion and the admissions process will get much more difficult with in the next few years. I would even venture that they have a best rep in the TX market (local rep not national), even better than McCombs. They are rolling admissions, so if you can and are prepared, I would take the GMAT asap and try to submit an app this year. Their facilities are supposed to be top notch, as good if not better than the top 20 schools.
If I were you, I'd take the GMAT then apply. I have a 2.73 GPA and a 670 on the GMAT. I got interviewed last February 20.
The 2nd year student who interviewed me was very helpful. She was a member of the MA Wright Fund, a student org that I want to join. It was a very relaxed interview that allowed me to get very comfortable with the school.
