Hi guys
I just joined your forum. I have recently cleared my GMAT with a score of 730. I also gave TOEFL and achieved 117/120.
However, on the other side of the spectrum, I have an underwhelming GPA of 2.1. This has got me very confused. Do I stand a chance at any of the top colleges? Which all schools should I apply to?
More about me;
I hold 6 years of professional experience in the IT software sector.
I did my graduation from Manipal University, India where I majored in BE - Electrical and Electronics.
After college I joined a Software firm In bangalore, specializing in business solutions for Telecoms. I worked there for 4 years as a Senior Engineer.
My current assignment is as the Product Manager of XXXX Inc, a privately held company providing software solutions in the Healthcare domain. The organization caters to international customers such as Doshi Imaging Group (one of world’s largest privately held Medical Imaging company) and NSLIJ chain of hospitals (turnover of $6.7 bil), and has offices in US, Canada and India. Some of our Indian clients are Max Healthcare, Dr. Lal Path Labs, Artemis Hospital Groups, Apollo Hospitals etc.
As the Product Manager of XXXX Inc, I report directly to the CTO of the organization and am ultimately responsible for our entire enterprise catalogue. Ours is a small organization with 35+ members spread over India, US and Canada. I manage multiple teams taking care of engineering, sales, marketing and operations on a day to day basis, and as such, I end up directly managing 20+ people in any given day. It is my job to supervise the various department heads like the Development Lead, QA Lead, Marketing Managers, Sales Managers and ensure that their efforts are well coordinated towards product delivery.
As the sole Product Manager of my company, I have full ownership and the attached responsibilities of our entire product suite. In 2013 FQ1 over the previous year, the revenues from our product offering grew by over 100% and the number of our customers increased by 2.5 times.
What am I looking to get out of an MBA?
Changing my job sector and location. I wish to be employed in a core-tech company (not IT/software. I have nearly burned out in this sector) based out of a European/US location. I would like to gain knowledge in entrepreneurship as well and see myself starting out on my own in 5-6 years of time.
Preferences:
I would really love to work in the new breed tech companies like Tesla motors, SpaceX, Bolt etc.
I also have affinity towards green tech.
Currently I will be applying to IE, IESE, HaaS and Sloan. Do I even stand a chance at these schools or should I aim lower?
