Hi there,
In a couple of weeks I´ll be travelling to the East Coast and will be visiting Columbia, NYU, HBS, MIT, and Wharton campuses.
I have already contacted each of these admission offices letting them know that I will be visiting campus in order to schedule a visit (either Info Sessions or Campus Tours).
Since I am aware that for some schools it is important that the applicant visits the schools, I wanted to take the time to do so so that I can comment it on my applications. However, my questions are:
- How does one prove that one has visited a school? Or in other words, how do admission officers validate that the candidate has actaully visited campus when the application time comes?
- Do admission officers keep track of emails or the database in which applicants register to events via the school´s website?
- And ultimately, do they even bother to validate this?
I contacted these schools via email so that there is a written record in case they checked this. I don´t know if this was smart but I thought it wouldn't hurt.
Thank you so much for your response!
You don't have to "prove" anything, just like you don't have to prove your salaries or your activities, because they will believe you.
What you have to "worry" about rather is making sure that you are getting the most out of your visit - that you are meeting people, learning invaluable information about the school and program, and so on... so that you are boosting your application.
Best,
Jon
