Do schools need an official score report? [#permalink] New post 01 Nov 2013, 15:40
Most of my application deadlines are in early January (T15). I need every second I can get to finish preparing for the GMAT, but when I schedule the appointment to take it depends on whether my schools need an official report BY the application deadline.

If they do, I need to take it on Dec. 14 to ensure it arrives by the application deadline.

If I can self-report my scores and arrange for a report to be sent AFTER the deadline, I have until early January to take it.

Does anyone know from experience which it is? If the report doesn't arrive by the deadline, will they not consider my application?

Hey there,

Very few schools require an official report at the time of application and all of those requirements can be found on their website (or with a quick call to the school in question). Additionally, you can select 5 schools the day of to send an official report to so for those 5 they will have official reports in hand by the time you apply anyway. So between those two components, you should be ok to take the GMAT at any point before the deadline.

I hope that helps!

Let me make sure my point is clear - at the time of application, most schools do not require an official score report. However, at the time of matriculation, every school does. But your question is more around GMAT exam dates and applications so just know that there is a difference in requirement as a component of time.
