...on the basis of your GMAT score and the other information entered into your GMAC profile? I have received a few letters/brochures from near elite programs, with one stating that a fellowship, given my profile, would be a likelihood, etc. I don't recall reading any posts on this topic, so first, is this common, and second has anyone received anything of the sort from a top 10 program?

Funny, I remember being asked on the GMAT if I wanted to receive materials from schools interested in candidates like me, and I checked "yes", but I haven't received anything other than the brochures I requested. I *thought* my stats (770 GMAT, 4.1 ugrad GPA, etc.) would put me up there on at least some lists. Maybe I'm the wrong kind of candidate?

Yup, I got these sorts of thingswhen I was applying four years ago. I didn't get any from top-ten schools, but did get a few from some top-30-ish schools. They een referenced my GMAT score in the letters that tehy sent.
