Do you think I could be a match for a Top B school? [#permalink] New post 08 Dec 2011, 08:58
Hi guys,
Lately I have been thinking about undertaking the application process of an MBA, ideally in a top 10 b school. But I am not quite sure about my profile: I don't want to waste time and then being rejected because I am not a good fit.
Here is my academic/professional profile: do you think b schools will take me into consideration (assuming the outcome of my gmat is >700)?
Birth date: 1986
High School diploma in 2004 (Humanities, final gpa 100/100)
Bachelor's degree in 2008 (International Management, top tier italian university (awareness abroad close to 0 though), final gpa 105/110)
Master's degree in 2010 (Business Management from the same university, final gpa 110/110)
Unofrtunately no significant international experiences (only vacations and short term stays)
As for the professional experiences:
- Assistant Brand Manager (internship) at 15B$ FMCG company (nov 09 - may 10)
- Assistant Shopper Marketing Manager (internship) at 80B$ FMCG company (june 10 - Dec 10)
- Audience Research Executive at 3B€ TV company (part of a 35B$ media conglomerate, Dec 10 - Oct 11)
- Product Marketing Manager at the same tv company (Nov 2011 - present)

Thank you very much!

I would say you could be a match, but your work experience is really light. I would stick it out with a single company for another year and then apply. This way you will be right aroudn 3 years of work ex when you start which is truly the minimum now.

A lot would depend on the question " Why do you need a second masters?" a part of this would lie in the answer to the question- " what skill do you plan on gaining from a Top MBA which you do not have currently after your first masters?"
And also "What are your goals which cannot be accomplished without a second masters"

Thanks for the reply!!
In case I decide to apply, it would be no earlier than 2012 (2013 class) so I will be having almost 4 years of professional experience by then.
Another doubt: Do american corporations usually provide non us mba candidates with sponsorship? Otherwise it wouldn't make much sense studying in the us (I guess european b schools have strongest relationships with european recruiters, haven't they?)

Thanks
