1) mistake for..

2) the main subject is "simple menstrual cramps" so it should be at the beginning.

I agree with the usage, mistook for...

however, didn't the doctors think that endometriosis was ACTUALLY menstrual cramps? So wouldn't it read: the doctors mistook endometriosis (what it actually was) for menstrual cramps (what they thought it was)...

Doctor thinks endometriosis has no cure.. so it should come later

There is no cure for endometriosis, NOT simple menstrual cramps.
