Does Industry Matter? [#permalink]

What if you want to go into adult entertainment after you get your MBA? I mean the business side not the acting side. Over dinner, I was encouraging a good friend of mine to apply to B-school. And we got to taking about post MBA goals. When he jokingly said he wanted to get into marketing, so that he could market adult videos better. We laughed. But it kinda got me wondering, how would the adcom take it if a candidate really wanted to go into adult entertainment. I would think industry really does matter.

Ha, i did not laugh out loud but it is weird in my opinion In my opinion, The adcoms do care which industry you want to enter after MBA, so in the same way if you inteneded to learn judo to kick some bully black and blue and you wanted to enlist in your local sports club then you probably want mention you want to beat up somebody however noble those intentions might be. The same applies here.

I'd agree with BlueRobbin, I think certain adcom members will have a personal bias/opinion of the adult entertainment industry so it could be detrimental to your application. It's like if you said you want to work for big tobacco after graduating... may catch some people off guard on your true reasons.
