does mode HAVE TO BE 1 value? I thought mode of a SET is number or number(s). but mode itself is in singular form, so when question asks for mode, why can't it be more than 1 number?

example:
What is the mode of the numbers in the set Z: {1, 3, x , 5, 8}?
(1) x^2 − 6 x + 5 = 0
(2) x^2 − 10 x + 25 = 0

so in 1) x=1, x=5, so mode of the set Z is 1 and 5. the answer is 2), but I was wondering if by definition of mode 1 and 5 could be one valid answer.

Yes, the mode is the most frequently appearing number within a set. Here the answer is (B) because we can conclude the value of x, and thus determine the mode.
