Does poor SC bring down difficulty of other verbal Q's? [#permalink] New post 25 Apr 2012, 13:48
I just took the first GMAC practice CAT and got a 40V -- 8 of the 9 questions I missed were sentence correction. I answered all SC questions "with my ear" as it's been ages since I learned the rules. Once I dive back into the rules I expect having no problem with the SC questions. My question is:

Once I improve my SC, does that mean I will face harder RC and CR questions? Or, since I only missed one RC and CR question on the CAT, does that mean I've already faced a sample of the hardest questions they can throw at me?

I'm trying to allocate study time and not sure how much I should study RC and CR.

Thanks!

Every question you get right will continue to bump you up into harder questions regardless of what question type you get right. So overall, if you do better in SC, you will also get harder RC and CR questions. My advice, is if SC is your weakest, dedicate more time to that area, but continue to learn about RC and CR b/c the better you get at SC, the harder you will get in all questions. A 40V is already very strong, so great job! That's 90th percentile, and will really help drive your overall score. If you can pair that with a Q48 or higher, you will be golden!
