While we're on the subject of inspirational GMAT poetry, here's another one (originally written for LSAT by Bahar, I revised it for the GMAT
)
GMAT: The PoemYou dread it, you fear it,
You don’t dare go near it.
You’ve heard the horrifying tales,
Kids who’ve studied for years, but miserably fail.
Your heart beats wildly when certain words are mentioned,
Like “Data Sufficiency” and the dreadful “Sentence Correction.”
You brace yourself for what’s about to come,
Hours of solitude, hidden from the sun.
Friends and family plead “Come out of exile!”
While you remain silent, alone, and somewhat suicidal.
Finally, you decide to come out of seclusion,
Your friends, so surprised, think you’re an optical illusion.
Although you’re out of your room, you don’t have time to chat,
For the overpowering voice in your head screams “GMAT!”
You rush back in your room,
Quickly shutting the door, sealing your tomb.
It’s 3 am and you’re working on SC1000 number #824
Trying to figure out, “…if Hernando
sits adjacent to Reza would Aphrodite enter the room after or before?”
You lay your head down for a moment to rest,
But you start to dose off dreaming about the test:
Where am I? You claim,
When suddenly you find yourself immersed in a Combinatorics Game.
You’re surrounded by Aphrodite, Reza and Hernando,
They start yelling, “Who do I sit next to, where can I go?!”
Scared and confused, you start running towards the light,
When suddenly you’re confronted by a common Reading
Comprehension question type.
You identify the question as “Method of Operation,”
And answer it via technique and process of elimination.
After answering the question right,
You continue running towards the dwindling light.
In the distance you suddenly see,
A book titled “The Answer Key”
You’re a grasp away from a 750,
A life of success and prosperity.
As you take hold of the key,
Your alarm rings, it’s a quarter till 3
You suddenly realize it was all a dream,
That nothing was quite what it seemed.
You decide to go back to studying and hope for the best,
Praying that you’ll be successful on the test.
So, if you’re like me and you might be angered, frustrated or pissed,
Don’t give up, lets succeed at this!
