when two sides of a triangle are known , the maximum area occurs when the angle between those two sides is 90.

lets say base = 12 , height =8 (angle = 90)

maximum area = (1/2)*12*8 = 48 ( this is the same maximum area even when base is 8 and height is 12).

if we fix the base and keep lowering the angle, it will result in a lower height . hence the resulting area will always be < 48.

C,D and E are ruled out.

1 and 2 are possible areas as their areas are less than 48.

Hence the answer is B.
