Dr. A: The new influenza vaccine is useless at best and possibly dangerous. I would never use it on a patient.
Dr. B: But three studies published in the Journal of Medical Associates have rated that vaccine as unusually effective.
Dr. A: The studies must have been faulty because the vaccine is worthless.
In which of the following is the reasoning most similar to that of Dr. A?
(A) Three of my patients have been harmed by that vaccine during the past three weeks, so the vaccine is unsafe.
(B) Jerrold Jersey recommends this milk, and I don’t trust Jerrold Jersey, so I won’t buy this milk.
(C) Wingzz tennis balls perform best because they are far more effective than any other tennis balls.
(D) I’m buying Vim Vitamins. Doctors recommend them more often than they recommend any other vitamins, so Vim Vitamins must be good.
(E) Since University of Muldoon graduates score about 20 percent higher than average on the GMAT, Sheila Lee, a University of Muldoon graduate, will score about 20 percent higher than average when she takes the GMAT.

This is a case of circular logic!
B is the best choice!

You mean (C) ?

(C) has the circular error, not (B).

C

How do we know the vaccine is ineffective?
Because I (the doctor) say it is ineffective

How do we know this type of tennis ball is most effective?
Because I (the speaker) say it is most effective

Just trying to explain the OA to myself
c.

Wingzz tennis balls perform best(in comparison with all the other balls)
Wingzz tennis balls are far more effective than any other tennis balls.;implies they are the best.

Circular logic.

The new influenza vaccine is useless;hence I won't use it on my patients.
the vaccine is worthless;hence, the studies must have been faulty.

Choice B has the following problem
X recommends Y, I dont trust X so I won't buy Y
But, the questios says
Studies recommend Vaccine, I don't like vaccine so studies are at fault.

B is not the answer choice.
I am nor sure about C though.

I struggle with these types of questions and I've yet to find a strategy to best attack these. Does anyone have any suggestions?

These are LSAT type of qustion and read some logical fallacies.

If you know these fallacies, it will be easy to solve.

however its good to practice all kinds of CR questions, this type of question is least likely to be appear in real gmat test.

it is most popular in LSAT.
