Dreams Shattered !!!! [#permalink]

Hello folks, Despite of much help from guys (Marcab,Macfauz,Archit, vips) and online coaching institutes( E-gmat,Veri prep) and others whom I haven't mentioned, I screwed GMAT very badly. Start prep date : 22/08/2012 End prep date : 03/03/2013 12 Mocks MGMAT 1 : 580 Q44,V25 GMATPrep 1: 550 Q46,V21 Gmatprep 2: 620 Q49,V25 crack GMAT : 505 Princeton : 590 Q40,V32 Veritas: 650 Q51,V32 MGMAT#2: 580 Q43,V28 MGMAT#3: 610 Q44,V31 MGMAT#4: 590 Q42,V30 MGMAT#5: 680 Q46,V37 MGMAT#6: 640 Q47,V31 GMATPrep#1 : 600 Q49,V29 Somewhere on the forum I read that verbal can take your scores up , so I just concentrated on verbal after completing all MGMAT Quants book. Sources: Quants: MGMAT GuidesTotalgadha Geometry Totalgadha Number systems OG12Verbal: MGMAT Guides Powerscore CR Bible RC99 OG12Gmatclub forums GMATprep And ,today I screwed (GMAT:630[Q47,V29],AWA 5.0,IR 5) it big time.Although the journey has been so long , the fruits are unexpectedly sour. Also, IMO the journey ends here itself. Rgds&thanks TGC

hey man!!! Don't let the score shatter your dreams. If good score on GMAT and an MBA were so easy to achieve then possibly everyone would have tried to get an MBA. Luckily it isn't. Just take a break and look at the mistakes. Convince yourself that at least you have set a baseline of your current score. In any case, your current score is the least to be considered. Don't end your dream just like that. I also have taken a break but I need to get myself back on track. Trust me, hard work is worth a shot. Hope you don't allow the GMAT to shatter your dreams. Gud luck for your next shot.

I'm sure you have read several stories here going from a 5XX to a 7XX...... I agree with Marcab..... Take a break and then get back on the track... There is still plenty of time for R1 of 2014 to start... Do not let the GMAT bully you.... Your Quant score is pretty good.. Only the verbal needs some working on.. Don't let one hurdle end your journey... I'll take the privilege of wishing you all the best on your next GMAT...

Rgds&thanks TGC Come on bro!!!!!!Its not over yet .....There are juz a handful f ppl who get closer to their dream score in their first attempt.......Its an adaptive test , shw preservance and resilience..... "Success does not always goes to strongest or to the fastest but sooner or later one who wins is the one who thinks he cans" One question..."Did you take veritas's Full Immersion course" Another thing, all your scores on mock tests are close to your Actual score...should do not panic.....Understand your faults and start workn on it without wastn any further time... Its really sad to read "DREAMS SHATTERED" If it gopt shattered than those were not your dreams..because as far as i know dreams does not get shattered, but are meant to be cherished.......Pls rename the thread..... I don't know why you believe you screwed up big time. You got a score exactly within your practice exams. It's really important to score within your desired range before you take the exam. Since it is a standardized test, it's highly unlikely that you'll come out of the exam with a score significantly outside of the range. If you want to retake you should continue to study and only sign up for a testing date when your prep tests reflect the score you want to get. In short you weren't ready yet, but in time you can be! Good luck!

Hi I noticed a very strange aspect in your debrief..... In your last gmat prep u scored 600 and your break up was Q 49 V 29 But in Your actual GMAT you scored 630 with a break up of Q 47 V 29.....With a 2 point reduction in ur quant raw score u managed a 30 point increase in ur total....Certainly a strange a phenomenon because i guess gmat prep uses exactly the same algorithm..... Can you pls clarify which veritas prep did you signed in to....because Souvik has explained that veritas prep's Full immersion course is great and he actually landed up scorn 780 only coz f it.....I know wat works fr one preson may or may not work fr other...but i guess 90% ppl taking up the course end up with a 100 points increase in their overall score.... Good luck! Last mock taken was MGMAT 6 - 640 After my last mock , I revised OG12 CR,RC,SC and did approx 400 questions from comprehensive GMAT prep material.

Hey i understand what pain you have gone through, However, a quick analysis of what score you got in actual to what you had in your mocks..IMO, If we take the average score of all mocks, it will be around the actual score only. The variation would max be 10-20 pts. So i don't see any surprise factor here. Trust i am not being cynical here but if you really want to see unexpected drops, read this 620-shocked-but-not-defeated-135978.htmlHaving said that, I would strongly recommend you not to give up but do a detailed analysis of your mistakes. The maximum learning will come from our mistakes only.

Yes thats true percentile matters , what i wanted to pin point is there can be discrepency of +20 points on actual gmat from the gmat prep......with the same break up...

Archit I guess consecutive mistakes also have a role to play and hence the discrepancy.
