Let Mary's salary = M,
Jim's J
and Kate's K

Also, given (M-J) = 2(M-K)
or, M-J = 2M-2K
or, -M -J -K = -3K
or M+J+K = 3K
or, (M+J+K)/3 = K

means the avg salary is equal to Kate's salary, and that is what given in 2nd option. Hence B.

Just a suggestion from my side, for DS, try to simplify the question stem as much as you can. Then start evaluating the two options.

Qs => M-J=2(M-K) => M=2K-J
Avg (M,K,F)= (M+K+J)/3= (2K-J+K+J)/3=K
