Getting B
x = 7

From 1)
X C 2 = X C X-2
Can’t find the value of X

From 2)
X + 1 C 4 = 2 * X C 4
Getting X = 7

great job guys..
OA is B

I read the question as the number of different pizzas that could be made with 4 toppings as:

4 - single toppings
4c 2 - two toppings
4 c 3 - three toppings
4c 4 - 4 toppings

What is the 7C4 8C4? I mean what is the C? Is it combination? I guess not as the number doesnt work. I havent been on here enough to pick up the shorthand.

Thanks

Just trying to understand this problem took me a long time (>3 minutes). Maybe it is wording.

Once I figured out it was a combination problem the rest was easy. But if I see a problem like this on the test I would not be able to recognize it fast enough and probably would have guessed.

I also had a bit of a problem with the wording.

(1) is actually an identity that holds for any X >= 2; that is, XC2 = XC(X-2) for each X >=2.
