A...... i mixed another question with this one. (however, my biggest problem is that i oversuppose or overlook: ). i am editing it........

Statement i, if numbers in set are like this: -3,-2, 0, 1. median -ve.
if numbers in set are -2,-1,2,3, median is +ve.

Statement ii is also insufficient, however i am not clear with the biggest negative element (because among elements -4,-3,-2, and -1, -1 is biggest).
if numbers in the set are like: -1,0, the median is -ve.
if numbers in the set are like -4,-3,-2,-1, the median is absoultly -ve.
if numbers are -1,1,2,3,4,5, median is +ve. so insuff.

togather, insufficient. therefore go with E.

From stem , there are EVEN number of integers in the set S.

Stmt 1 . Insufficient , the sum of middle two numbers could be positive, zero or negative, so is the median.

Stmt.2 Insufficient. Just knowing the value of one negative element does not give us any thing, except that it tells there is only one negaitve integer.

form 1 and 2:

We can say there is one -ve integer (-1) and a positive integer which can be anything.. Still not sufficient.

take 2 examples : a) -4,-3,-2,-1, 20,21,22,23 -> median is +
b) -20,-19,-18,-17, 1,2,3,4 -> median is -

statement 2) is insuff

we just know one value, no other clues so it is useless

statement 1) and 2) together is sufficient
it is sure that the median is not negative. It can be equal to 0 as a minimum.

We know that the biggest negative value is -1 and we know that half of the numbers are on the positive side, the minimum value that we can take for any positive number could be 1 (in that case median = 0 but it is clearly not negative) and with any other numbers the median will be +

biggest negative means the most negative a number can get. the smaller the number the more negative it is. -2 is negative'er than -1 for example

A number that is more "negative" is a number smaller than the number it is being compared with.
-2 vs-1 -2 more negative therefore it is lower than -1 BUT -1 is the LARGER negative number.
i too say it must be C
but i have a question, from one of the earlier posts i got the impression that someone considered 0 as a positive number, i was of the opinion 0 has the property of being neither negative nor positive, at the most it can be categorized as even.
Is this true guys?
