Hey SimonMC:

I'm pretty familiar with Durham and, if you'd like, am more than willing to help out with the apartment hunt.

Generally, single/younger Fuqua students live in Station Nine, which is in the upper price-range for Durham (maybe $950 for a 1BR and $1250 for a 2BR). It's located just off Ninth Street, where most of the bars are, and a lot of Fuqua parties are located there.

Older and/or married Fuqua students usually live at Alexan Farms, Addington Farms or Alexan-Garrett Farms. These places are slightly cheaper than Station Nine, but are still quite nice. They're also a little further from campus than Station Nine, though still only a 5 minute drive.

The cheapest place to live is probably Pinnacle ridge ($700-$800 for a 2BR). It's relatively safe, but I'd advise against it.

To more directly answer your question, I don't think that many Fuqua students live at either Trinity Commons or West Village. Both are incredibly nice - Trinity Commons is the newest and likely the best complex in the area, while West Village is also new and in the developing Brightleaf Sq. district.

Trinity Commons, however, is, in my opinion, simply too expensive for Durham. You can easily get a great 1BR for $850 or $900. Spending $1400-$1500 at TC or the Lofts is unnecessary. The only exception may be if your significant other is working at Duke Hospital, which is a few hundred yards away.

I can't speak to West Village, since I'm not familiar with its price-point and haven't been inside.

I hope this is helpful and, of course, feel free to send me a message if you'd like to discuss this further.

No admissions packet from Fuqua yet and I'm located in DC. Did it get lost? Or am I just being too impatient? Or is my doorman now hiding it because I've been down there asking him about it since Feb. 1st and he thinks it's funny messing with me?

The business school application process has ruined me- if I'm not working on a list of action items, I don't know what to do with myself!

If you've received your packet, how many copies of official transcripts do they need? One or two? I want to request them from my undergrad this week but was waiting on the admission packet.

Thanks!

I didn't get one yet either - and I live about 30 miles away from Duke's campus.

I wouldn't stress.

I am also in after round 1 at Fuqua. I passed up opportunities last year to attend this year. Pretty stoked.

SURPRISINGLY, I do not have facebook. Any other method of connecting with the incoming fuqua 2014 class?

Hope to meet a few of y'all in person! I havent received my packet either.

Hello future blue devils. I've also been accepted R1 and am, so far, 95% certain I will be choosing Fuqua over my other options. I'm just waiting for the right time to pull the trigger and say yes.

They made me wait, I figure it's their turn.

Hey trickism,

Unfortunately, the Facebook group is the only option right now, as they did not create an email group for the admitted students like some of the other schools have done.

Are you going to BDW?

If you haven't gotten your admit packet, you should def call the office! I received mine a few weeks ago...

I'm not sure what Fuqua's exact process is since I declined, but because there hasn't been any other responses yet, I'll post what I know from my experience with Sloan.

They explicitly indicate that if you have not told your employer yet, then let the verification company know asap and they will hold off until you give the the green light OR until July 1 at the latest. This applies only to your current employer - and it will not hold up the other pieces of the process such as education check. As such, it seems like they do directly contact the company.

July 1 is only a month out from when most orientations start, so this seems like a very reasonable timeline IMO.

Hope this helps.

I'm in for BDW! Anyone started to look into housing? Debating on whether to submit an app to station 9 to get on their waitlist (I heard that its starting to fill up) or to wait it out until I find a roommate.

My wife and I are also looking at housing options. Has anyone heard of Parc at University Tower? It is pretty close to campus and is gated.
