I'm quite new & naive about this application process.... can any1 guide me??

1. Are the chances of getting through an Early decision round better than other rounds?
2. Can any one share some info regarding the college, its unique features, that I should somehow include in my essays

I will not be going through any counselors to keep my application as original as possible (& they charge a bomb too)....so would require all the help I can get through these forums

Same here. Interviewed but waitlisted. I'm going to have to withdraw shortly because it's just too late in the year to accept and deal with moving.

I'll most likely go Round 1. I didn't realize Duke's EA was binding like CBS, and I'm doing CBS early decision.

I'll add what I can. I absolutely recommend taking advantage of the application reduction. The main point of this (in my opinion) is to get you to go to Duke and really experience the school and the people. It is an extremely tight knit community. I can honestly say that going down there made me fall in love with the school.

Most schools that offer EA/ED don't outright say your chances are better, but the general consensus says otherwise. Especially programs like Duke who offer a binding early round, it shows you're committed. That means an offer should turn into an acceptance, so you're happy and the school (and their stats) are happy.

The biggest thing to know about fuqua is the team fuqua idea. Like I said earlier, it's a very tight community. You aren't completely isolated like some schools (think Tuck or Cornell, great programs but in the middle of nowhere) but you aren't in a city like NYC or Chicago. Fit is huge at Duke.

Also for NYC area applicants -- on June 26th from 7-9 PM at the Downtown Marriott there will be a Fuqua Admissions event with a good deal of the NYC Fuquans entering their first year showing up, feel free to join us!

Just an FYI. The link for the event above seems to be for current students/alumni. But If you go to the Fuqua website and look at admission events, the same exact NY event shows up but with a different registration form that seems to be for prospective applicants.

Also what would one suggest about dress code, the usual business casual that one wears to school visits or more formal suit that's used for MBA fairs?

I'll be enrolling at Fuqua this fall, anyone who wants some headers or contacts of current students, and admin people let me know. Also there are a couple of events this week for any Dukies in the DC Metro area....

As someone who went to school at the University of Maryland, the fact that I will be a Dukie is going to take some time to get used to.

I'm in for R1 as well! Love everything I've heard about the school. Will also be attending the NYC event next week!

Question for current students: how have you found the recruiting process for jobs/internships? Are the companies that recruit on campus from offices mainly located in the South or is there no real geographic concentration?
