(A) During the 1980’s approximately $50 billion in private investment capital is estimated to have left Mexico and added == OK (B) During the 1980’s it is estimated that approximately$50 billion in private investment capital left Mexico and added
== WRONG, “During the 1980’s” illogically modify “it is estimated”

(C) It is estimated that there was approximately $50 billion in private investment capital that left Mexico during the 1980’s and added == OK (D) It is estimated that during the 1980’s approximately$50 billion in private investment capital left Mexico, adding
== WRONG – “left Mexico” and “Adding” are not ll

(E) Approximately $50 billion in private investment capital is estimated as having left Mexico during the 1980’s, adding == WRONG - “is estimated as having” is wrong idiom Among (A) and (C), I think both present perfect tense and simple past tenses are ok. I like (A) more because (C) is wordier My Ans is (A) SVP Joined: 16 Jul 2009 Posts: 1629 Schools: CBS WE 1: 4 years (Consulting) Followers: 40 Kudos [?]: 885 [0], given: 2 Re: SC Mexico [#permalink] ### Show Tags 22 Apr 2010, 03:07 OA is D, but as per Manhattan SC, "It is...that" is a wrong construcion.
