Not sufficient.

Not sufficient.

(1)+(2) As you can see x from (1) equals to 19.25 from (2), so 3x (percent of the female students) equals to 3*19.2557.75%. Sufficient.

Answer: C.

Hope it's clear.

The question is asking for percent. so it can be a fraction.

Just a small point for discussion,
when they say Traditional or Modern it means T +M- Both.

So T+M-Both =100
now when they say T= 65 and the rest is Modern, how are we assuming that M= 35 and Both = 0 ?

It could be T= 65, M= 45 and Both = 10 ( or any other combination that leads to a 100% )
or T= 65, M= 35, Both = 0 ( as done in the problem)

if there are no students taking both , then Both = 0 then of course the problem is easy to understand, but why and how are we assuming that B= 0, when it says T or M, which means T+M-both .

Nowhere does it state that the student cannot take both,is this common knowledge?

Thanks.

Yes, from "each fi…rst-year student at a certain school selects either the traditional curriculum or the modern curriculum" we can safely assume that neither of the students selects both.
