IMO D

from q stem we get
if base mem=x
1M will inc base mem by 3---->x+3
2m--->2x+6

s1) [(2x+6)-x]/x=3 ---> solving x=3 hence suff
s2) 2x+6+x=1.6(x+3+x)---->solving x=6 hence suff

Answer is D. But the above solution is not correct. The first indication of this is that the values of x from statement 1 and 2 are different. This never occur in GMAT.

Statements in DS never contradict, nor they are giving the different answers.

(1) x+6=4x --> x=2. Sufficient.

Note that increase by 300% equals to 4 times increase.

(2) x+6=1.6(x+3) --> x=2. Sufficient.

Answer: D.

Hi, the answer to above question is D i.e both the statements are individually sufficient to answer. However, I am unable to comprehend the question. Please help.
