Lets say we need x liters.
After mixing we get (x+35) liters.

Total Iodine before = Total Iodine after
\(40%*x + 20%*35 = 35%*(x+35)\)
\(5%*x=35*15%\)
\(x=35*3=105\)

Answer is (d)

Suppose x litres of 40% iodine solution is required. Then total volume of resultant 35 % iodine solution will be (x+35) litres.
Considering the iodine content ...we can derive
(40x/100) + ((20*35)/100) = (x+35) *(35/100)
Solving we get x=105 Litre .Hence D is the answer.

Consider KUDOS if its helpful.
