To me this question looks like not properly defined. Because we need one more information about the triangle that is about its height. Or whether triangles are similar.

If both the triangle have same height then S = 2s will be correct.
But If both triangle have height and base in same ratio (I mean they are similar triangle) then S = Sqrt(2).

In most probable case they will be similar triangle and answer will be C.

It would be great if the picture of the question is posted. It is really simple to get the picture.

Press the "print screen" key on the keyboard.
open the windows paint program, and paste the screen capture (ctrl V)
save the picture as a jpeg file on the desktop directory
attach the picture when you post the question.

if you don't see the taskbar at the bottom of the screen when you are using the gmatprep software, just press the key with the picture of "windows" to get to the taskbar.
