It looks like Emory has not gotten a lot of love in this thread in a long while, so I am going to try to bring that back to the forefront. I think that some of the trans elite schools need to get more chatter on this forum to really make the forum more well rounded and inspirational for all levels of MBA applicants. I am interested in Goizueta because it is a smaller school, with a great location in Atlanta, and an up and coming reputation. I feel like I want to be a part of a school working hard to move up to the next level, but I'm worried that, I may be limiting my options for future jobs. I wish there were more people on the forum with experience at Emory, with admissions from Emory, and the curriculum to help share their thoughts. If I get into Emory, I will make a large effort to raise awareness of, not only Emory, but other Trans Elite schools as well.
Any thoughts?

After visiting Emory I feel that a campus visit is essential in forming your opinion regarding Goizueta. They truly make you believe in the "community" of Goizueta. The class sizes are small, approximately 150-180 per year, and everyone seems to know everyone. The campus is beautiful with new facilities. I think the only thing holding back Emory's rankings are its class sizes. Thus, the alumni network will not be as extensive as other, larger schools, but the quality is top notch. They also seem to have deep pockets, as nearly 75% of students receive some form of scholarship, and nearly 1 of 6 students receives a full tuition scholarship.

I have officially been admitted to Emory, and will be matriculating for Fall of 08. So, if anyone has any questions regarding the application process, I will try to help out. Also, in the future, once I'm a student, I would love to answer any questions that I may have answers to. Please don't be afraid to contact me.

Congratulations on getting accepted at Emory. I am in process of preparing my application these days. I have two questions:
1. How do you compare Dec.15 round with Feb.1 round in terms of rigor?...is the Feb. 1 round going to be more competitive? Additionally, I will be applying as international student and the website explicitly instructs international students to apply by Dec. 15
2. I really need help with "Why Emory ...?", as I know nothing about the school beside its closely knitted community/small class size.
.....a quick look at my profile may be helpful in answering my question.
Male/Lawyer/Pakistani/gmat 730/ Undergrad GPA 2.7 + alternate transcripts(3 pre-mba courses with all A's)
Thanks.

As stated in PM,
Illusion, I can't speak on the rigor of the deadlines from experience. But, I would think that your chances would improve the earlier that you apply. Especially with applications being up again this year, they may not have many slots left once the round 3 application begins.
Now, for why emory, what you know already is the most important thing. The community is very very important there. They want to know that you will fit in and bring something different to the discussion. What makes you unique and how you could help discussions is very important. Also, they stress Leadership, and how they are creating leaders. So, its important to stress your desire to grow as a leader, and what a leader means to you. You should definitely know the core values, as those are very big to Emory. The Goizueta Business School is also trying to become more flexible this year with their curriculum, so that would be another thing that you could stress, if you like a flexible curriculum.
In summary, community, leadership, core values, and flexibility. Best of luck.
