Employment gaps [#permalink] New post 16 Sep 2008, 10:19
I came across a question in the application asking the applicant to list all employment history since undergrad and explain any gaps in employment.
I graduated from my undergrad in may and didn't start a full time position until Nov. I took some time off to travel, volunteer in those months. However, since I took my first full time job, I don't have any other employment gaps. My question is, those months between undergrad and my first job, do I need to "explain" myself?

Most of the apps I've been working on say that 3 months or more of unemployment should be explained.

In your case I'd say to talk about your volunteer/travel experience during that time as it will probably serve to help your application anyway as well as provide an explanation for the gap after graduation. I don't think that this is a big deal but I think it would be better to give the committee more information if there's room in the application.
