This is to get a preliminary evaluation of my profile so that I may accordingly narrow down my focus on appropriate schools. Post MBA I wish to take up responsibility in a major energy sector company. I'm putting down some salient points of my profile below. I'd be obliged if you could let me know a few b-schools in which i stand a fair chance of getting admit.

B.Tech, IIT Kanpur, CGPA:9.1
B.Sc Development Economics , UOL International Programme, Distinction(while working fulltime)
4.5 yrs of experience working for the top oil field services company, lots of international work experience
Some volunteering experience in NGOs and non profit, started my own non-profit organisation two years ago that provides microcredits to farmers for purchase of high yield seeds and fertilisers subject to condition that all children up till age of 14 in the household attend the local school at my ancestral village. We have also organised boot camp for the school teachers in the village in collaboration with other ngos active in the sector. All this while I've still been working fulltime.
Fluent in hindi, english, german and mother tongue
Senior diploma in tabla(classical indian music instrument), 1st class with distinction in practical

Hi there,

Thanks for your post. With that remarkable GMAT, your experience in the oil field industry, international experience, and the NGO/community experiences, especially that which you established and ran on your own, you should have strong chances at most b-schools around the world, as long as you have compelling essays that support your profile, are engaging, and demonstrate what you would bring to a b-school class. Stanford & HBS will likely still not be easy to get into given all of the well-qualified applicants they receive, though you should certainly give it a shot if interested. Otherwise your chances are better than average and you'll want to think about what you are looking for in a school (see our free download on choosing schools at: ... ram-E-Book).

For energy sector in particular, you could consider Haas, Fuqua, Rice, McCombs. But certainly all top programs will open many doors including within the energy sector, including Stanford, HBS, Columbia, etc. Outside the US, IMD & Warwick come to mind for energy.

Good luck, please keep us posted on your questions and progress!
