a friend of mine that's an entrepreneur is trying to talk me into helping a company he's working with out in the near term. He says there'll be a huge amount of stuff I can talk about in my essays if I helped out, which I don't doubt at all.
The only problems I have with doing that in the near future is:
1. My life is consumed with B-school apps, essay writing, visiting schools, and interviewing students/alums. I really don't have time outside of work and that to help out (for free).
2. I'm afraid it'll look way too transparent to the adcom to talk about something I just started after I began my application process. Just wanted to see if others agreed with my reasoning for telling my friend that I'll probably consider it early next year. Worse comes to worse, if I don't get into any school, I have one or two startup type jobs lined up I can switch to and "learn" entrepreneurship myself. So I guess that's good =)
