maybe it should be 1/2 instead of -1/2,

because with -1/2 we get:

92=-x^2 and that doesn't work

1/2 works nicer

100=x^2

Yah i agree, it should have been 1/2 instead of (-)1/2.
With later we get a sqrt(-92)

thanks for the clarification. I also believe that there was a typo in the q.

oa is 10

should be

12/(x+2)=12/(x-2) -1/2
