Equivalence of MGMAT and actual GMAT scores [#permalink] New post 15 Oct 2006, 09:37
Hi,

I have scored a poor 540 on a MGMAT test from http://www.manhattangmat.com/gmat-prep- ... k-home.cfm
I would like to see how it compares to the actual GMAT, but I am not able to use the score estimator to compare.

Can someone please help me estimate my score.

MGMAT test scores [#permalink] New post 05 Nov 2006, 21:14
smachary, i had the same exprience with the MGMAT test. I have taken 5 tests already and posting scores between 620 and 650 on the princeton review tests. Then I took MGMAT's tests and posted a 550 - worse I could get through barely 30 questions in verbal where I did not have a problem before.
Does anyone know what to make of these scores?

Well,

I wouldn't trust so much those MGMAT scores. First one I got a 550. Two weeks after it my score at real GMAT was 660. One week after GMAT I took second MGMAT test and I got a... 550 again! But 2 weeks after I took the other one. I improved, mainly because it's easier and I got a 650. Two weeks after I took real GMAT again and I got a 760.

Conclusion, they're good for practice and timing (because their exercises are really time consuming), but not really so good. In fact, I never liked their kind of questions (althought their books are outstanding).

smachary did you get 640 on the real GMAT?

I feel really bad because I am getting bad scores on the MGMAT CATs (around 640) and I feel really bad because I do terrible in quant :(((.
I really like the questions. I think they are really close to the real thing but a little bit harder than other practice material out there.

I used to be good at Math but doing GMAT quant makes me realize that I actually suck at math :(((

yesterday I took one and immediately got slammed with superhard math questions... I like the evaluation report very much though.

you see how many questions you get from each pool and how many are correct/wrong including which types + pacing option is very good.

500-600 Nr. right / Nr. wrong
600-700 Nr. right / Nr. wrong
700-800 Nr. right / Nr. wrong

I score 680 on my first test hoping to improve (Hope that the real test will be easier :-) )

I suggest do take timed test instead of no limit for time. Thats makes difference.

Could others comment on this?

I've taken 3 MGMAT Tests so far and scored 590, 670, and 660. I have been reviewing the OG Math religiously, and been able to tackle most of the problems. But whenever I try some MGMAT math sometimes I'm just like "huh? I've never seen this before in my life".

it doesn't make much sense to categorize questions 700 etc. a 700 could be a scored by someone who gets 99% match subscore, but their verbal could by @70%. or vice verca. both these candidates scored a final 700, but their math performance would be different.

it would be much more accurate if they termed a math question by estimated miss rate, or by quant percentile ranking
