I've been looking around from some good essay tips...Does anybody have any good reference sites?
Writting these brings me back to my college application days, however it was a lot easier then with English teachers roaming the halls.

Not a lot of sites...but you can find a lot of conversations here on gmatclub, especially if you look back a few months during the bulk of R1/R2 periods.
I also highly recommend Paul Bodine's book.

And I liked Montauk's book. Didn't try Bodine's, but people rave.
Also, there is a nice download from Rhyme - has some essay tips I liked. Look in the "read this first" section of this forum.

Thanks for those suggestions....I'll be sure to check them out.
My first thought was that the essays needed to be formal and business like. However, after reading some examples, it seems people are choosing to use a more colloquial style. Do you guys agree?

I think it's more about telling your story. I mean, I wouldn't swear or use lots of slang or anything like that, but I think that if using formal language will get in the way of your story, then you should tone it down a bit. Make it easy to read, interesting. You want to hold their attention.

My favorite book is "MBA Admissions Strategy (Paperback)
by A.V. Gordon". It is mostly focused on essays.

I found this book at a local Borders and used it extensively to write/critique my essays. There is another guy who picked it up at Borders and found it to be great. He has written a review on Amazon.
I am not sure why it isn't as popular as it should be....
