Hi champagnemandy,
Your concerns are valid, but I do believe that this is worth explaining - carefully. It does not need to be a focus of your application or an excuse in any way. It should be presented as a challenge that you experienced in the PAST, and the story can focus on overcoming it and what you learned, and how it has impacted your life today. Perhaps you are now more tolerant and open-minded. Perhaps you give back to others with a similar affliction. It's OK to use it to explain that D, but mostly you should focus on explaining how much you have excelled in spite of it and how much you continue to excel BECAUSE of it. In other words, erase all concern that this could negatively impact your behavior or performance going forward. Instead show how you are a stronger, more reslient and more successful human being because you overcame this challenge.
Best of luck!
Stacy
