for something questionable that my manager did is it important to show the interviewer i actually did something about it? im pretty sure if i went above my manager for that, i would have to face some serious consequences and maybe get fired...
how important is it to show what action ive taken as a result of the dilemma?

I would advise you to pick a different story.
I have a good story about accidentally getting credit for something I didn't do. I spoke up and told our supervisor the truth. I think you should pick something like that.
I think they are looking to see action in this question.

Hi
I agree with Gil. The thing with interviews is they want to see what action you took in the past in a particular situation since that is an indicator of what you would do with a sticky situation in the future. Also, from what I have read about this, an ethical dilemma is not a situation where a particular action you took was unquestionably the right path to take (eg. being offered a bribe but not taking it) - but a situation where you had an actual dilemma as to what choice to make (eg. having to choose to lay off in a downturn one person or the other when one of them is a superstar who has consistently gotten excellent results, and the other is an average performer but you know he is recovering from cancer and needs to keep the job for health insurance). I have taken some extreme examples, but you get the idea.
