Hey Nick,
You have a very interesting profile. It's a shame to ruin it by giving unlikely and illogical (and common) goals such as you have. Schools LOVE different candidates (and your journalism experience is different). They also LOVE political candidates, which given your field, you have. It's all a matter of influence. So why not use those strengths and build upon them? I would suggest rethinking your goals so that you can come up with something that will make good use of your past experience, and lay you out as a unique and diverse candidate.
Given your grades, those schools may be a bit on the tough side for you as GPA of accepted students tends to be higher, but still, you have the GMAT and the interesting profile, so I would give it a shot, but still maybe adding one or two more schools a wee bit down on the list, just in case they don't like your GPA too much.
But like I wrote above, your story will be KEY. (Plus as a journalist they will be expecting some very good writing!)
