Hi. Thanks for providing this profile evaluation, your replies to others' questions were very enlightening.
I am currently applying to a couple of top 15 business schools, in the last round, and I'd like to know how strong you think my profile is.
GPA: 3.3
Undergrad: Large State School, 4 year degree in 2 years.
Major: English
Work: 5 Years Experience
GMAT: Scheduled for a week from now. I always did well on standardized tests.
After graduation, I spent several years working in the entertainment industry. I worked on TV shows for ABC, CBS, MTV, and Fox. It was a very educational experience. I also shot music videos for Universal Music, and worked for Warner Brothers on the studio back lot, learning how films were made, sold, and advertised.
Two years ago I started my own protein trading company with the help of a family friend who was in the business. I export North American poultry, beef, and pork to Asia. With an initial investment of $60k, I made $85k in revenue in 2011, got eaten up by expenses. Next year, over 400k, did pretty well. So far in 2013 sales exceed 1.7 million USD.
I hear last round admissions can be tough, but I am really interested in earning an MBA. Weak GPA from a state school will hurt, also I don't have much charity/community experience because I was working like a fiend to get my company off the ground. Hopefully my work experience will help make up for some of those gaps.
I'd like to know what you think my chances are of making it into H/S/W or another top school?
Thanks,
Jack
