I am from Colombia, so undergraduate GPA comparisons are difficult
I got 4.1 on a 5.0 scale, should be top 10% but transcripts do not show any rankings.
I have a masters in economics from a tier-2 school in the U.S. GPA 3.7
my GMAT score is 680 and I have very limited work experience, just internships and summer jobs in finance and leading projects of international cooperation in different countries of Latin-America.
do I have any chance in any top 20-30 program?
I have a dilemma, cause I don't get a job becuase I don't have experience, and I don't have experience because I don't have a full time job!
thanks for your comments
conocieur,
The fact that you are from Colombia and have a decent GMAT and GPA would put you on the radar for any number of schools in the top 20 and 30 (though probably not the top 10 except as longshots). However, your lack of work experience, and indeed lack of current employment, would seriously weaken your application. The vast majority of business school stuents have two years of work experience or more. It's true that schools are increasingly admitting younger applicants, but these are usually applicants with great, proven potential that pulls them equal to older applicants. It would be hard for you to show that potential without a job. My advice would be to aim at schools in the top 25-30 where your GMAT will shine and to do everything you can to overcome the lack of full-time employment situation (even if it means, for example, two part-time jobs, etc.).
Good luck!
