Prof, A doesn't make sense. Can you please explain your reasoning? I was thinking C was the answer.

C is grammatically wrong. A , while not perfect, is best .

oh !! could you please explain what the gramatic mistake is?

I opted C because, from the statement:

I infer that the author intends to compare:
Syrians-Crusaders with Syrians-French and both statements are on similar lines.

A: Even as they never forgave the Crusaders who overran their homeland, the Syrians have never absolved the French for taking territory from them. Doesn't comply to my inference. what do you say?

"just as", not "just like", is a correct expression...

The author compares two clauses, so like is inappropriate here.

What kind of a continuity clause is Even as....what excatly does it mean...based on how the scentence is framed i was expecting a clause that means 'similar to'. Could someone please explain what 'Even as' means here ?

(A) Even as they never forgave
(B) While they never forgave
(E) In spite of their never forgiving

all above three requires some kind of contrast to complete sentance so they can be omitted!

(C) Just like they never forgave
It should be 'just as' so wrong

(D) Similarly to not forgiving
Sounds Awful, though don’t see any Grammatical error, so will pick it as lesser of all evil

I would go with option F- none of the above.
But since that is not a possibility, I stick with A.
Agree with Prof. C should be Just as..

Agreed with A.... choose C first, but I think the expln is correct for not supporting 'Just like'!
