Is it allowed to have the pronoun and its antecedent to be so far away in the sentence ??

I do know that we can have the pronoun introduced before the antecedent , but is it right to place them so far away ?

Take this with a pinch of salt = not a gospel rule though.

Although : in case of a negative scenario, the outcome is positive

eg : Although it was raining ( NEGATIVE ) , we went to the picnic ( POSITIVE OUTCOME )

Even though : Extreme form of Although

Despite : in case of a positive scenario, the outcome is negative

Despite the hard work (POSITIVE ), he failed (NEGATIVE OUTCOME )

Now the intent of the sentence :

Food supply hasn't increased ( NEGATIVE ) ...........:............. China could maintain the desired nutrition levels ( POSITIVE OUTCOME 0

Thus Although / Even though prevails in this case over Despite : thus C / D Eliminated

bxn A / B / E ;

(E) Although there is hardly any increase in per capita food supply for : ( WHOSE food supply has not increased = we don't know ) = Eliminated

(A) Even though its supply.............. hardly increased during : missing the verb HAS = Eliminated

(B) Even though its supply........ has hardly increased in = perfect

leading to B = my take
