Expat in public accounting - Advice please! [#permalink] New post 22 Mar 2012, 22:54
Hello,

I will keep this short for you guys.

- USC Marshall undergrad with 3.6 GPA.
- Two study abroad programs while at USC. One in Europe and one in Asia. Total around 9 months abroad. Loved the experience working with business students from other countries.
- Haven't taken GMAT yet (assume 700-720 for now).
- 3 years of public accounting tax experience from large international firm (not big 4) - Senior Associate w/CPA
- 2 years of expat experience in India with the same firm assisting with the development of an outsourcing center for all U.S. compliance work. Responsibilities include training employees, supervision/review of work, quality control, process improvements, change management, coordination with U.S. employees, etc. Approximately 600 employees in total and I manage around 20 Indian employees. Was selected for this opportunity based on work performance in the states.

What schools would I have a good shot at? I would LOVE to be able to attend one of the typical "dream" schools posted by many but I'm wondering where my level of experience will put me realistically. If you guys could name drop some schools as well as post any other advice I could use, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you!

Sounds like you have a very nice profile! Lots of real leadership, good numbers (pull through on that GMAT dude!), and you should have a wealth of choices. Given what you wrote, a global program might be best for you, so the first one that pops into mind is Wharton Lauder, but of course an MBA from ANY of the top schools will get you where you want to go. If you really want to hone that global experience though, you have European MBA programs and Asian ones which are excellent and might be right up your alley, as their international mobility and the opportunity you are afforded to learn another language might be good for you.

Hope this helps, and if you have any other questions, you know where to find us!
