My experience is that your functions won't be verified, just the fact that you were employed there. I would rely on my recommenders and my application and resume to clarify job function so it sounds like you should be in good shape.

I'm in a similar situation and I asked Tuck how it treated people who didn't have lofty or progressive titles, but had significant influence or responsibility. Adcom said it cared more about experiences and content of the job than the actual title. I would imagine most adcoms would treat it that way, so that's good news for you.

As to the background checks, my understanding is that they verify employment, title, and sometimes salary. So if you just put down your current title, but explain your responsibilities you won't have to worry from either an admissions or verification standpoint.
