Experts examining trends in the housing market predict that the number of annual home foreclosures will continue to increase while the number of new home sales will continue to decrease.
a. the number of new home sales will continue to decrease
b. those of new home sale decrease
c. it decreases for new home sales - awkward
for is incorrect too, 'of' is correct usage (the number 'of')
d. those of new home sales decrease
e. there are decreases for the number of new home sales
- incorrect
- also it is not parallel - (the number of X will continue to increase, while the number of Y will continue to decrease)

Note: "the number" is singular.

I chose d:(

Well d is incorrect for the reason that " those" is plural and "The number" in "the number of annual home foreclosures "is singular.

D compares "the number of annual home foreclosures" with "those of home sales"

Hence Chuck out D

A maintains parallelism..hence correct
