Dear all
I want to share my GMAT exp. I scored 610(Q43 V31) in my first attempt.
Took my second attempt yesterday and was disappointed to see the score after 50 days of hard work.
I scored 620 (Q48 V28). I did not finish the quant section in time, missed the last question by 5 sec(probably i would have scored a 49 or 50 had i completed the test on time).
However, i had a severe headache in the middle of the exam which strongly affected my performance.

The following were my scores in various practice tests
MGMAT free test 660 (Q47 V33)
Knewton free test 690 (Q49 V34)
Kaplan free test 700 (Q51 V34)
GMAT club diagnostic test (38/45)
GMAT club math 25 (31/37)
GMAT club knewton quant set (32/39)
MGMAT 1 700 (Q49 V36)
MGMAT 2 680 (Q49 V34)
MGMAT 3 730 (Q51 V38)
MGMAT 4 710 (Q51 V36)
MGMAT 5 710 (Q51 V36)
MGMAT 6 720 (Q50 V38)
GMAT prep 1 730 (Q51 V37)
GMAT prep 2 710 (Q50 V34)

I think i should try appearing for the GMAT once more. Since i have scored well on almost all the practice tests, its worth trying again.
Can someone help me. Need some suggestions and guidance.

Based on the scores of your practice tests, I think you should give it another try.

I had a similar experience,

45 extra days studying, only to get a bad migraine during the test and only improving 20 points...

Taking mine for the 3rd and final time on the 18th. I think its worth it, dont want to go to a lesser school because you had a bad day.

in the grand scheme of things, whats another $250 and a month of studying.

I wonder how much of your V score can be attributed to the headache... its extremely low as compared to your practice exams.

Go for it man, also strengthen ur verbal a bit more because in both the actual test , verbal score are well below ur prac verbal scores....and doing so will also ensure accomodating 20-30 points drop..just in case..
must go for a full hearted reattempt and u will get ur dream score.

Hi Sumit, your CAT scores says that you have a fairly strong foundation. But I guess you only missed out on time management. should not be more than a month more struggle - you will definitely do better in your GMAT. You can brush up more on your quant skills as that is where your timing killed you tis time. Sure if you want to improve verbals, try out some more advanced online quick brush ups....reading through the forum I realize we all can make it....its not that big a thing "unachievable"...so Best of Luck

thanks to all for your valuable suggestions and motivation.

I will probably retake exam in a month.
Can anyone suggest me ways to improve my RC and CR skills. I am confident in SC.
In CR and RC, should i simply practice a lot of questions(under timed conditions) concentrating on the fundamentals ?

@wallstreetbarbie - your point is totally valid. Even i was wondering how much can a headache affect. But believe me, this is not an excuse :( . Just as i finished the quant section, the headache started. It was so unbearable that i wanted to get out of the test room after 10 mins. I was not able to read the questions. My mind forced me just to go through it as soon as possible. I finished well before time. :(
