Sorry to hear that. I hope you will get a good offer soon.

Hi Tkkoh,
Your first ding came quite late, comparing to the others on this thread. I think it is a good sign that the other schools are still considering your app. : ) Hope you get a better one soon.

Hi tkkoh,
Duke offer came in at Feb 20 and LBS one came at Feb. 26. My background: B.A. in Econ, Top-tier univeristy in China, 3.3+/4.0
M.A. in Econ in a US school, 3.9+/4.0
G:750/5.5
No w/e. No publication. Good recommendation from four professors in the U.S.
Anyone here knows anything about the accounting program at LBS? I plan to decline it in next few days...

bbt: Never heard of the Accounting PhD program at LBS. The school has a good reputation and you'd get good, rigorous courses for sure. However I don't know any faculty members there.
As for Duke they have a very solid Accounting PhD program with many all-star empirical accounting research faculty members there. Unless you really wanted to live the London experience and/or didn't want to end up in North Carolina, I'd say it's a no-brainer.

i e-mailed the grad director of my favorite school and asked about the status of my application. what I got was this sentence:
Someone will drop you a note within the next couple of days
Doesn't it intentionally mean I have been rejected?!

Thanks TKKoh.
I am sure lady luck will smile on you and you too will have offers in hand, soon.
Can anyone give perspective about Univ of Rochester's Accounting PhD program. Heard that it has very high drop out rate.
Best Wishes

Rochester has strong placement records. I also heard that it is quant-heavy and, yes, drop out rate is relatively high. If I remember correctly, it is also quite generous with its finanical aid. It would be a great place to do your PhD if you are determined to complete it.
