Re: Fall Recruitment [#permalink]
Yes, you would, but the odds are seriously against you.

I am not sure if you are American. If you are, then it is possible as you don't need a visa. If you aren't, the game is over there. It is part of the F1 visa that allows you to work.

Next, there is the fact that the US desks won't be sending a designation along to do interviews and recruit. So there is no structure for a first round on campus interview (which Asia and Europe will have). The firms are very separate geographically so this will pose a problem.

Third, some firms don't like you applying to multiple geographies. So you have the choice of a hail mary for the US where the whole infrastructure for recruiting is tilted against you, or something more likely (Asia, Europe).

It is tough enough being non-US to get a summer in the US and a job after that. That has tightened a lot. So without the playing field available it is highly unlikely. I would say go with where the recruiting strength is and wait a bunch of years to when the opportunity comes internally.

Location wise, you can always get screwed; it is their perogative to have people where they need them (equities in Dallas...)

I might add that applying US having decided to attend Oxford would probably raise some eyebrows - why not attend a US school if that is what you wanted. Asia is somewhat different, and I am sure recruits all major school (US and Europe).

Re: Fall Recruitment [#permalink]
Thanks. I was pretty much thinking EU/Asia the whole time, so not going to the US doesn't really bother me, as it was never a big part of my plan to begin with.

Now comes the question of S&T/AM/IM recruiting - is the outlook really as bleak as what everyone's been saying? Even if I'm applying to Asia? I mean, I must fill a need somewhere right?

What is S&T/AM/IM? Sorry, I am business acronym illiterate.
